What is different about browser-local PDF merging?
FileOnTap does not need to upload PDFs to a conversion server first. Reading the files, copying their pages, and creating the new PDF all happen in the current browser, which is useful for contracts, statements, internal documents, and other files you prefer not to upload.
Merging and compression are different operations. This tool changes how documents are combined and does not deliberately lower image quality to chase a smaller file. Direct page copying is the appropriate approach when the goal is simply to place multiple documents into one PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. PDF files are read and merged in your current browser and are not sent to a FileOnTap conversion server.
Does merging reduce PDF quality?
Pages are copied directly from the source PDFs instead of being re-rendered as JPG or PNG, so text and vector content are not rasterized by the merge step.
Can I change the PDF order?
Yes. Drag files to reorder them or use the move up and move down buttons. Pages inside each PDF keep their original order.
How many PDFs can I merge?
The current limit is 20 PDFs, 200 MB total input size, and 500 total pages to reduce the risk of browser memory exhaustion.
Are encrypted or password-protected PDFs supported?
Not yet. The current version does not open PDFs that require a password.
