Simple file tools without an upload step

FileOnTap is a small collection of focused browser tools for common file tasks. The current HEIC converters process selected images locally in the browser rather than uploading them to a conversion server.

Why build browser-local tools?

Many file-conversion sites begin by sending a file to a remote server. That model can be useful for heavy processing, but it is unnecessary for some everyday tasks that modern browsers can handle on the device itself.

When practical, FileOnTap prefers local processing because it removes the upload wait and keeps the source file on the user's device during conversion.

What FileOnTap offers today

• HEIC to JPG for broader compatibility with websites, apps, and older software.
• HEIC to PNG for workflows that benefit from lossless decoded pixel data.
• HEIC guides that explain the format and common compatibility problems.

What local processing does not mean

A converted file is a new file. It may not retain all EXIF metadata or Apple-specific features from the original HEIC. Live Photo motion is also separate from the still image. Keep original files when archival fidelity matters.

Privacy and analytics

Selected conversion files are not uploaded to FileOnTap's server. We do use basic analytics to understand page usage and whether tools are functioning as expected. File contents and file names are not sent as analytics events. See the Privacy page for details.
