When should you convert HEIC to PNG?
PNG is useful when you plan to keep editing the decoded image, need pixel-stable output, or want to avoid another lossy JPEG encoding step. After the HEIC image is decoded, PNG stores the resulting pixels losslessly.
PNG cannot restore information that is not present in the source HEIC, and photographic PNG files are often much larger than JPG files. If your main goal is sharing or broad compatibility, HEIC to JPG is usually more practical.
