When should you convert JPG to HEIC?
JPG to HEIC can be useful when you want a HEIC copy for an Apple-oriented photo workflow or a more storage-efficient modern photo container. Because JPG is already lossy, converting it to HEIC does not restore detail that was removed from the original JPEG.
HEIC encoding creates a new file; it does not turn an ordinary image back into the original iPhone camera capture. Camera metadata, depth information, and the Live Photo video component are not recreated. Keep the source file when those details matter.

Will EXIF metadata be preserved?
Not guaranteed. This tool creates a new HEIC file, so keep the source file when metadata matters.
Will this create a Live Photo?
No. The result is a single HEIC still image and does not create the video portion of a Live Photo.
Does it work in every browser?
HEIC encoding depends on WebAssembly, Web Workers, and browser isolation features. Modern desktop browsers are the best-supported environment, but device and browser differences can still affect availability.
