What does this compressor change?
This version renders each PDF page to a JPEG image and builds a new PDF using the original page dimensions. It can reduce many scans and image-heavy PDFs, but it rasterizes text and vector content.
Keep the original when selectable text, links, forms, or vector graphics matter. A future structural optimization mode can be added separately so it is clearly distinguished from this page re-encoding mode.
Frequently asked questions
Are PDFs uploaded?
No. Reading, rendering, JPEG encoding, and creation of the new PDF all happen in the current browser.
Why is text no longer selectable?
This version compresses by re-rendering each page, so text, vector graphics, links, and searchable text become page images.
Which level should I use?
Start with Balanced. If the file is still too large, try Smaller or Maximum.
Why can the output sometimes be larger?
A PDF that is already highly optimized or mostly simple text may not become smaller after raster re-encoding.
Are password-protected PDFs supported?
Not yet. PDFs that require a password are not supported in this version.
