How your files are processed

FileOnTap's current image and PDF tools read selected files and create results in your browser. Source file contents are not uploaded to a FileOnTap conversion server. The resulting files are made available for you to download from the browser.

Local processing does not mean your browser is offline. It still requests pages, scripts, styles, and other site assets. Those ordinary network requests can carry standard connection information, such as an IP address and browser details, to the hosting provider. They are separate from uploading the files you select for conversion.

Analytics and third parties

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand basic page views and tool usage, including events such as conversion starts, outcomes, and download clicks. Depending on the tool page, those events are sent through Google's browser script or a restricted FileOnTap event endpoint that forwards permitted event data to GA4. Analytics events do not include file contents or file names.

For ordinary visits to pages that load the Google browser script, analytics starts when the page loads; this site does not currently ask you to opt in before loading that script. HEIC encoding pages do not load that browser script and use a restricted event endpoint for permitted tool events instead. Automated acceptance traffic is excluded from our analytics. These controls are separate from uploading your files.

GA4 is a third-party service. Its requests may process ordinary browser and connection information and may use cookies or similar technologies under Google's policies. You can manage cookies and tracking requests through your browser's controls or extensions; this site does not currently provide its own analytics preference switch. Restricting analytics does not change browser-local file processing. Analytics events do not transmit the selected source files. We will update this page when these practices change materially.
